Financial Advisor New York Life Insurance Company Yuka Nakahara-Goven Q1. 現在はどのようなお仕事をされていますか？ What is your occupation? Answer ファイナンシャルアドバイザーですが、仕事というよりも、生涯キャリアです。 私は日本で大学卒業し、１９８１年末に渡米、１９８４年に経営修士課程を終えました。この直後、アメリカで知り合った主人と結婚しました。 １９８５年２月にNew York Life 社に入り、今年で３７年目を迎えます。自営業ですので、オフイスには、顧客サービス担当のアシスタントが二人おります。基本的には、 クライアントの一生を通して必要なファイナンシャルプランを構築し、それぞれの”夢の実現”のお手伝いをしております。ここ１０年間は数十年来のクライアントのプランニングの集大成の一環として、次世代の為のレガシープランニング、中小企業の継承ビジネスプランニングに集中する事が多くなりました。 ​ ​I am a Financial Advisor. It is an “uninteresting” job title, but this is my lifelong career. Here is a little bit about my background: I graduated from a university in Japan and came to the U.S. in 1981 to pursue my post graduate degree. I obtained my MBA in 1984 and married my husband whom I met here soon after. I joined the New York Life Dallas office in early 1985, making this my 37th year with the company. Within New York Life, I hold a sole practice operation with two administrative assistants who help service our clients. My fundamental focus has always been to help clients build their own financial plans throughout their lives. This would translate into clients reaching their financial goals and realizing their dreams. In the recent decade, due to client demographics, I have become more engaged in legacy planning for the next generation and business succession for small business owners. Q2. お仕事でやりがいを感じるのはどのような時ですか？ What is the most rewarding part of your work? Answer やりがいは何かと言い換えてみます。第一には、人と人との信頼関係を築いていく事。第二には、時には喜び、そして悲しむクライアントに寄り添えられる事。第三には、これらの過程で自分自身の人生も豊かなものになって来た事。 First, this is a relationship building business. Second, I am able to stand by clients in times of joy and sorrow and provide them with assurance. Third, my own life journey has been endowed with many blessings thanks to this career. Q3. 逆にお仕事で大変だと感じるのはどのような時ですか？ On the other hand, what are the difficult parts of your work? Answer 仕事で一番フラストレーションを感じるのは、クライアントが短期思考型で、中々長期的目標を建てられず、途中で挫折してしまった時。 ​ I am most frustrated when clients are short sighted and are struggling to set long term goals to stay focused. It is especially discouraging when they would eventually abandon plans. Q4. これから仕事面、プライベートどちらでも何かチャレンジしたいことはありますか？ Is there something new that you would like to try, either for your work or private life? Answer 特にチャレンジ（！）したいと思えるものはないです。 長年かけて築いて来たこのビジネス、そしてこのキャリアに関しては、生涯現役のつもりでおります。但し万が一に備え、若い後継者を養成中です。 近年の私のモットーは、”生きる事は則ち働く事”です。この先も、クライアントそしてこの業界でのキャリアと真剣に向き合う若手新人アドバイザーの目標達成、夢の実現に向けて微力ながらもお手伝いが出来れば、と言うのが私の切実な思いです。 ​ I do not really have anything special or glamorous that I want to try. I spent many years building up my practice and business. As far as my career is concerned, I can firmly say that I do not plan to ever retire. I am, however, currently mentoring a young advisor to be my successor, just in case. My motto is “to live is to work.” It is my sincere hope that my continued service to the industry will help more clients and young aspiring advisors realize their goals and dreams, not only for themselves, but for future generations.

Sales Planning & Analysis Manager Demand and Supply Management Toyota Motor North America Reiko Hasegawa Q1. 現在はどのようなお仕事をされていますか？ What is your occupation? Answer 自動車会社の需給グループでマネージャーをしています。過去には生産計画・プロジェクトプランニングマネージメント・グローバルセールス等色々な仕事を経験しましたが、今はシステム開発プロジェクトや新型モデルの需給調査等に取り組んでいます。 ​ I’m a manager in the department Demand & Supply Management in a automotive company. I’ve worked in production planning, project planning and management, and global sales planning. My current jobs are system project management, new model demand study, and so on. Q2. お仕事でやりがいを感じるのはどのような時ですか？ What is the most rewarding part of your work? Answer 通常通りに対処出来ない難しい案件が出た時、関係者と確認や調整をした上で応策を考え、問題解決まで導けた時に満足感があります。プロセス作成や管理表の用な今後活用出来るものを形として残せると達成感があり嬉しいです。 When problems occur that cannot be resolved with my normal process, I work with related members for confirmation, coordination, and countermeasure development. I feel satisfied when the problems get resolved. I’m also pleased when I can leave something, like a new procedure or a checking tool to deal with future issues. Q3. 逆にお仕事で大変だと感じるのはどのような時ですか？ On the other hand, what are the difficult parts of your work? Answer 役割分担やプロセスがはっきりしていない時、当然ですが仕事がやりにくいと感じます。北米本社の輸出導入決裁のプロセスを作成という仕事の際、過去の取り回しや決裁ベースとなるものを日本本社から聞こうとしましたが、最後の担当者はその職務の経験が浅く詳細を知らなかったので、一から調べなければいけなかった事がありました。その分野の知識のありそうな方々に情報収集のため連絡を取り全体のプロセスを理解し、北米本社での取り回しを確立し関係部署を含め承認を得ることが出来ました。マイナーな分野でしたので、情報収集するのが一番大変でした。根気よくステップバイステップのアプローチで任務を遂行することが出来ました。 ​ My job is naturally difficult when roles & responsibilities are not clear, or the process is undefined. I was assigned to develop export business planning approval in North America and wanted to understand how it was done in Japan. The person who had the task in Japan did not know the detailed process or the background, so I had to search for information from scratch. I was able to establish a new process for business cases and gain consensus with related groups after understanding the overall process by interviewing other people who may have known something that related to the subject. It was a sort of minor field that very few people knew the history of or the entire process. Gathering information was the toughest thing for this project. I was able to complete the task by using a step-by-step approach with perseverance. Q4. これから仕事面、プライベートどちらでも何かチャレンジしたいことはありますか？ Is there something new that you would like to try, either for your work or private life? Answer スペイン語を学びたいと思います。今はテキサス在住なので活用価値もありそうですし、現地の言葉で会話が出来る旅先も増えて楽しくなりそうです。 ​ I would like to learn Spanish. I’m living in Texas, so it can be more useful here. And it will be fun to have more travel destinations where I can communicate in their native language.
