JCW Event Report - Career Women Conference 4月20日に、JCWダラス4月イベント、「Career Women Conference～キャリアアップ、キャリアチェンジ、キャリア探しを応援～」を実施しました。大雨の中多くの方々にご足労頂き、本当に感謝です。 各パネリストさんのキャリアの変遷やライフイベント、紆余曲折を経て今に至った話などを通じて、たくさんの学びを得ることができました。 「パネリストさんのお話からパワーをもらえた」とか「ダラスで働いている他の日本人女性とお話できて嬉しい」など、参加者の皆さんもお楽しみ頂けたようです。 イベント後のネットワーキングタイムでは、お仕事の姿勢やキャリアのお話はもちろんのこと、美肌の秘訣やワインのお話、おいしいおつまみのレシピまで！ こうして少しずつ楽しみながら、ダラスで働く女性達のネットワークが広がっていくといいですね。 パネリストのキャロル菊間さん・高田奈生さん、貴重な時間を頂きまして、本当にありがとうございました！ On April 20th, we held the JCW Dallas April event, "Career Women Conference - Supporting Career Advancement, Career Change, and Career Exploration." Despite the heavy rain, we are truly grateful to everyone who attended. Through hearing about the career trajectories, life events, and twists and turns of each panelist, we were able to gain a lot of insights. It seems that participants also enjoyed themselves, saying things like "I gained power from the panelists' stories" and "I'm glad I got to talk with other Japanese women working in Dallas." During the networking session after the event, we discussed not only work and career paths but also beauty tips, wine, and delicious appetizer recipes! In this way, little by little, while having fun, I hope the network of women working in Dallas will continue to expand. Special thanks to our panelists, Ms. Carol Kikuma and Ms. Nao Takada. Online Meeting with 5 Associates 4月13日に、以下の５団体が終結！英語で合同ミーティングを行いました。それぞれの団体や大学が活動内容を発表し、その後ディスカッションを行いました。学生ならではの意見やコメントなども活発に出て、とても意義深く充実した1時間となりました。今後もこのようなイベントを開催できたらと思っています。 On April 13th, the following 5 groups collaborated to hold a successful student-led virtual meeting.  During the first part of the event, each team presented about their universities and organization activities. Then they held a free-talk to get to know everyone better. Overall, it was an incredible experience that helped us gain new ideas and perspectives!  Hopefully, we can hold even more collaborations in the future. JCW Event Report - How to find sponsors who will accelerate your career 5月4日に、Podcast業界のカリスマスーパーウーマン、Vajaさん・しのぶフィリップスさん・道端ドコカさんの３名による話題の番組「ワケありWIFEのO談」の対面ライブイベントに、JCW代表の北村祐子がゲスト出演させて頂きました。テーマは「女性と昇進: Yes or No?」 5月16日に、JCWの少人数キャリア勉強会・Lean In JCW Circleを実施しました。 今月のテーマは「How to find sponsors who will accelerate your career - キャリアアップに必要なスポンサーとは」。 スポンサーってそもそも何？ どうスポンサーを見つけるべき？ 私が将来構築したいキャリアって？ グループディスカッションや個別ワークなどを交えながら、それぞれ自己のキャリアについて見つめ直してみました。様々な地域からご参加頂きまして、ありがとうございました。 JCWでは3か月に1回、少人数のオンラインキャリア勉強会を実施しています。 参加費は無料です。 今働いている方も お仕事をお休み中な方も これから社会で活躍したい学生さんも 女性も男性も大歓迎です。 次回は8月中旬を予定しております。 ぜひお気軽にご参加下さい！

JCWインターン生によるお話会｜Discussion Session by JCW Interns (July 19, 2024) 米国時間の7月18日に、津田塾大学のインターン生主導のもと、英語のお話会が開催されました。 本イベントには、津田塾大学インターン生、ダラス学生支部PAW(SA)、東京学生支部Unlimited、そしてJCWが出席。Women's Career & Unconscious Biasというビッグテーマと共に、ゲームや教材動画鑑賞、小グループでのディスカッションなど、多岐にわたる活動を実施しました。 将来世界で活躍する女性としての心構えや課題などアクティブに議論し、とても充実した１時間でした。 英語でのイベント企画とファシリを遂行されたインターン生の皆さん、そして本イベントにご協力いただいた皆様、本当にありがとうございました。 On July 18th, Tsuda University intern organized a virtual collaboration event in English with participation of interns, PAW(SA), Unlimited, and JCW staff. With the big theme of “Women's Career & Unconscious Bias,” the event featured a wide variety of activities including games, educational videos, and small group discussions. Participants actively discussed about the issues and challenges as women. It was a very productive one-hour session. Special thanks to all who planned and facilitated the event as well as everyone who supported this event.

スイーツdeネットワーキング ｜ Networking with Sweets (Sep 21, 2024) 米国時間の9月21日に、「スイーツdeネットワーキング ～抹茶バスクチーズケーキ教室～」を開催しました。 JCWイベントに初参加の方も何人かいらっしゃり、まずは各人の自己紹介から始まりました。皆さんテキサスの在住年数、現在のお仕事やバックグラウンドを簡単に紹介。ダラス周辺の滞在年数が長い方もちらほらいらっしゃいましたが、なかなか知り合う機会がなかったことにちょっと驚きの声が。 その後本イベントの講師を務めて下さったリジナー美鈴さんが抹茶バスクチーズケーキの作り方を実演。それを参加者の皆さんがポイント等をメモしながら真剣に見学されていました。 美鈴さんのお父様はシェフ、そして叔父様はフランス菓子・パン屋さんを経営されていたという環境で幼少期からその様子を間近で見ながら育ったとのこと。美鈴さんからのワンポイントアドバイスを聞きながら、お菓子作りの奥の深さを知りました。 バスクチーズケーキはなんと一週間冷凍庫で寝かせて熟成させる必要があるとのこと。そのため、当日はイベント中に焼いた抹茶バスクチーズケーキを食べることは出来ませんでしたが、美鈴さんが事前に焼いて下さったケーキを皆で堪能し、心もほっこりしながら皆さんネットワーキングをされて楽しいひと時を過ごすことが出来ました。 美鈴さん、素敵なイベントをありがとうございました！ JCWはこれからも "Network, Inspire, Empower" を念頭に楽しくて皆さまにとって有意義となるイベントを開催していきます。 引き続き皆さまの暖かいご支援をよろしくお願いします。 On September 21st, the "Networking with Sweets~Matcha Basque Cheesecake Cooking Lesson~" was held. Some of them were first-time to join the JCW event, where the session started with individual introductions, sharing their years of residence in Texas, occupations, and backgrounds. While some attendees had been living in the Dallas area for an extended period, many expressed surprise at the lack of prior opportunities to connect. Subsequently, the event's instructor, Ms. Misuzu Ridgner, demonstrated how to make matcha basque cheesecake. Participants attentively observed, taking notes on key points during the demonstration. Ms. Misuzu shared insights based on her upbringing in an environment where her father was a chef and her uncle owned a French pastry and bakery shop. Through her advice, participants gained a deeper understanding of the intricacies of pastry-making. It was revealed that the basque cheesecake requires a week of aging in the freezer. Although participants couldn't taste the freshly baked matcha basque cheesecake during the event, they enjoyed a cake prepared in advance by Ms. Misuzu, fostering a heartwarming networking atmosphere and creating a delightful moment for everyone. Thank you, Ms. Misuzu, for hosting such a wonderful event! Participated in "Japanese Fall Festival" hosted by Dallas Japanese Association (Oct 13, 2024) 午前の部のボランティアの皆さんと 米国時間の10月13日（日）に、ダラス日本人会主催の秋祭りにブースを出展しました！ 今年はダラス近郊３大学(UTD・UNT・Texas A&M）や地元の高校生等の学生ボランティアさんが多数参加。和気あいあいととても楽しく活動できました。 ボランティアの皆さん、本当にありがとうございました！ 午後の部のボランティアの皆さんと ブースでは当会の活動に加え、JCWのダラス学生支部PAW(SA)、そして東京学生支部 Unlimitedの紹介など、多岐にわたる活動をお披露目することができました。 ブースにお立ち寄り頂いた皆様、ありがとうございました。 On Sunday, October 13 (U.S. time), we set up a booth at the Japanese Fall Festival hosted by the Dallas Japanese Association! This year, many student volunteers from three universities near Dallas (UTD, UNT, and Texas A&M), as well as local high school students, participated. We were able to enjoy the event in a friendly and lively atmosphere. Thank you very much! At the booth, in addition to introducing our organization's activities, we were able to showcase a wide range of activities such as the Dallas Student Chapter of JCW, PAW(SA), and the Tokyo Student Chapter Unlimited. What is Psychotherapy?~ Awakening from a state where the mind and spirit are asleep ~ (Nov 14, 2024) アメリカ時間の11月14日にJCWオンラインイベント「サイコセラピーとは何か~マインド・精神が眠っている状態から目覚めるとは？~」を開催しました。 講師としてご登壇下さったのはソマティックカウンセラーの平田博子さん(EquanimityカウンセリングLLC)。前半はサイコセラピーについてお話し下さり、後半は参加者の中からボランティアを募り実際のカウンセリングを体験して頂きました。 今回体験して頂いたのはソマティックカウンセリング。ソマティックとはあまり聞きなれない言葉ですが、「身体に関する」という意味だそうです。 このアプローチは心の問題が身体にどのように現れるかを見て、身体と心の両面にアプローチすることにより、さらに深いレベルでの自己理解や癒しを促すそうです。 様々な気づきがあったイベントとなりました！ 平田さん、どうもありがとうございました。 On November 14th, U.S. time, we held a JCW online event "What is Psychotherapy? ~ Awakening from a state where the mind and spirit are asleep ~" The speaker was somatic counselor Ms. Hiroko Hirata from Equanimity Counseling LLC. In the first half, she spoke about psychotherapy, and in the second half, we invited volunteers from the participants to experience an actual counseling session. The counseling session is based on somatic counseling. The word "somatic" is not very common, but it is said to mean "related to the body." This approach explores how mental issues affect the body, and by addressing both the body and mind, it is said to promote deeper self-understanding and healing. It turned out to be an event full of various insights! Thank you very much, Ms. Hirata.

国際女性デー International Women's Day (English will follow) 3月8日は「国際女性デー (International Women's Day) 」です。1975年に国連によって 制定され、すばらしい役割を担ってきた女性達によってもたらされた勇気と決断を 称える日です。一部の地域ではミモザの花を送る風習もあるそう。 今年のテーマはInspire Inclusion。ミモザの花言葉でもある「感謝」の思いを胸に、周囲の人たちに感謝しながら日々を過ごしていきたいですね。 これからもJCWは、アメリカ、そして世界で活躍する女性をエンパワメントできるよう、様々な活動に取り組んでいきます。今後ともご支援ご鞭撻のほど、よろしくお願い致します。 International Women's Day was established by the UN in 1975 to honor the courage and determination of women who played important roles in the world. It is also customary to send mimosa flowers in certain countries. This year's theme is "Inspire Inclusion". With the thought of appreciation and gratitude, let's embrace our days being thankful to those around us. ダラス学生支部・第2弾発足！ Dallas Student Association PAW(SA) - Professional Asian Women Student Association (English will follow) ダラス学生支部・第2弾発足！ 2024年4月1日、JCWのダラス学生支部PAW(SA)- Professional Asian Women Student Association - が、UTDに引き続き、University of North Texas (UNT)でも設立されました！ 本団体は、UNT内のサークルJSA (Japanese Student Association)の傘下団体として活動致します。 これからもJCWは、UTDとUNTの2校にて、PAW(SA)の活動を通じて学生支援を進めて参ります。今後社会で活躍する未来のキャリアウーマンの皆さん、共に頑張っていきましょう！ We are excited to announce that JCW’s Dallas Student Association PAW(SA) - Professional Asian Women Student Association- has launched at UNT on April 1st, 2024! They will be working as an affiliate of JSA (Japanese Student Association) at UNT. This is the 2nd student association in Dallas in addition to the one at UTD.
