Learning to Communicate and Stay True to Yourself with Olympian Fumie Suguri (August 29, 2026) 村主さんを囲んでグループ写真 (Group Photo) 8月29日（土）、元フィギュアスケート日本代表でオリンピアンの村主章枝さんをゲストスピーカーにお迎えし、JCWイベント「世界で戦んで学んだ『伝える力』と『自分らしく働く力』」を開催しました。 今回の会場は、ダラス・フォートワース日米協会（JASDFW）のご厚意によりご提供いただきました。当日は総勢34名の皆さまにご参加いただき、会場は終始和やかな雰囲気に包まれました。 冒頭では開催のご挨拶とJCWの活動紹介に続き、参加者の皆さんにも簡単な自己紹介をしていただきました。お名前や職業に加え、「ダラスに住んで何年ですか？」「英語で一言、自分を表現すると？」といった質問にもお答えいただき、参加者同士が互いを知るきっかけとなる、和やかな時間となりました。 その後は、村主さんに「伝える力」と「自分らしく働く力」をテーマに、さまざまな質問をさせていただきました。 「アメリカで新たな挑戦を始めるにあたり、これまでの成功体験を手放してリセットするにはどうしたのか」 「海外で感じた見えない壁や、孤独とどのように向き合ってきたのか」 「『女性だから』と言われた経験」 「異文化の環境の中で、自分らしさ（日本人らしさ）を残すために大切にしていること」 など、一つひとつの質問に、村主さんはご自身の経験を交えながら丁寧にお話しくださいました。 特に「自分らしさ」（日本人らしさ）についてのお話では、茶道の心にも触れられ、競技生活から現在のアメリカでの活動まで、さまざまな経験を通して培われた考え方を伺うことができました。 また、会場からもいくつか質問が寄せられ、参加者の皆さんが積極的に村主さんとの対話を楽しむ姿が見られました。 イベントの最後には、村主さんを囲んで歓談したり、一緒に記念撮影をしたりと、参加者の皆さんとの交流も深まり、笑顔の絶えないひとときとなりました。 今回のイベントを通して、世界という舞台で挑戦を続けてきた村主さんの言葉から、「伝えること」や「自分らしくあること」、そして新しい環境で一歩を踏み出す勇気について、多くの気づきや刺激をいただくことができました。 お忙しい中、JCWのイベントにゲストスピーカーとしてご参加くださり、貴重なお話を聞かせてくださった村主章枝さんに、心より感謝申し上げます。 また、ご参加くださった皆さま、そして会場をご提供くださったダラス・フォートワース日米協会の皆さまにも、心より御礼申し上げます。 これからもJCWでは、皆さまが新しい気づきや出会いを得られるイベントを企画してまいります。今後の活動にもぜひご期待ください！ On Saturday, August 29, JCW was honored to welcome Fumie Suguri, former member of Japan’s national figure skating team and Olympian, as our guest speaker for an inspiring conversation on “The Power of Communication and the Courage to Be Yourself: Lessons from Competing on the World Stage.” We were grateful to the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth (JASDFW) for generously providing the venue. With 34 participants in attendance, the event was filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and a warm sense of community. Following opening remarks and an introduction to JCW, participants had the opportunity to introduce themselves. Along with their names and professions, they shared how long they had lived in Dallas and even described themselves in one word in English. This fun and interactive activity helped everyone get to know one another and set a relaxed tone for the afternoon. The highlight of the event was an engaging conversation with Ms. Suguri. We asked her about her experiences starting a new chapter in the United States, including how she let go of past successes and embraced the challenge of starting over. We also explored topics such as: Navigating the invisible barriers and loneliness that can come with living abroad Her experiences of being told, “Because you are a woman” How to stay true to yourself and your Japanese identity in a multicultural environment Ms. Suguri shared her thoughts openly and thoughtfully, drawing from her experiences both as an elite athlete and as a Japanese woman building a new life and career in the United States. When discussing the importance of staying true to oneself, she also shared insights inspired by the Japanese tea ceremony (sado) and the values it represents. Her reflections offered a unique perspective on identity, resilience, and finding one’s own path. The audience also had the opportunity to ask questions, making the conversation even more interactive and personal. The event concluded with participants gathering around Ms. Suguri to continue chatting, take photos, and connect with one another. The room remained filled with smiles and lively conversation until the very end. We are deeply grateful to Fumie Suguri for taking time from her busy schedule to join the JCW community and share her experiences and insights. Her story reminded us that our past accomplishments do not define our future—and that embracing change, communicating authentically, and staying true to ourselves can open the door to new possibilities. We also extend our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us and to JASDFW for generously providing the venue. 7月23日、DallasのSouth Side Ballroomにて開催された「D CEO Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards 2026」の授賞式に、Japanese Career Women（JCW）がファイナリストとして参加しました。 D CEOがCommunities Foundation of Texasとともに開催するこのアワードは、North Texasの地域社会に貢献する非営利団体や、社会貢献に取り組む企業・リーダーを称えるものです。 会場の入り口で(At the entrance of the venue) 今年は約900件のノミネーションの中から136のファイナリストが選ばれ、JCWは 「Innovation in Education: Micro + Small」 部門のファイナリスト4団体の一つに選出されました。 当日は、Dallasのさまざまな分野で活躍する非営利団体や企業、リーダーが一堂に会し、会場は華やかでありながら、互いの活動を称え合う温かい雰囲気に包まれていました。 今回のファイナリスト選出は、JCWがこれまで取り組んできた女性のキャリア支援、メンタリング、リーダーシップ育成、そして次世代の人材育成への活動を評価していただいた大きな励みです。 この素晴らしい機会を支えてくださったボランティア、メンター、パートナー、そしてJCWの活動に参加してくださる皆さまに、心より感謝申し上げます。 これからもJCWは、学びとつながりを通じて、一人ひとりが自分らしく可能性を広げ、世界で活躍できるコミュニティづくりを目指して活動していきます。 Congratulations to all the 2026 finalists and winners! D CEO Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards 2026｜Official Event Information On July 23, Japanese Career Women (JCW) had the honor of attending the D CEO Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards 2026 as a finalist in the Innovation in Education: Micro + Small category. Hosted by D CEO in partnership with the Communities Foundation of Texas, the awards recognize nonprofit organizations, corporate leaders, and companies making a meaningful impact in the North Texas community. This year, nearly 900 nominations were submitted, with 136 finalists selected across the various categories. JCW was honored to be named one of four finalists in the Innovation in Education: Micro + Small category. The awards ceremony was held at the beautiful South Side Ballroom in Dallas, bringing together nonprofit organizations, business leaders, and community changemakers from across North Texas. The evening was filled with inspiring conversations, meaningful connections, and a wonderful spirit of celebration. Being selected as a finalist is a tremendous honor and encouragement for JCW. It recognizes our ongoing efforts in career development, mentorship, leadership education, and creating opportunities for women and the next generation of leaders. The Networking Happy Hour (June 19, 2026) 6月19日（金）、FriscoのThe Cheesecake Factoryにて、JCWネットワーキングイベント「Happy Hour」を開催しました。 当日は総勢14名の皆さまにご参加いただき、最近ダラスへ来られた方々をはじめ、初めてJCWイベントに参加される方も多く集まりました。 金曜日の夕方ということもあり、少し早めの時間帯にもかかわらず店内は大変にぎわっていました。まずはそれぞれお好きなドリンクを片手に乾杯。その後、各テーブルで自己紹介を行いながら交流をスタートしました。 テキサスサイズのアペタイザーのボリュームに驚きの声が上がる場面もありましたが、おいしい食事を囲みながら会話も自然と弾み、和やかな雰囲気の中で交流を深めることができました。途中で席替えも行い、より多くの方とお話しいただける機会となりました。 開催直前には土砂降りの雨に見舞われましたが、そのような天候の中でも足を運んでくださった皆さま、本当にありがとうございました。 JCWでは今後もさまざまなイベントを企画してまいります。新しい出会いや交流の機会として、ぜひお気軽にご参加ください。皆さまとお会いできることを楽しみにしております。 On June 19, JCW hosted a networking Happy Hour at The Cheesecake Factory in Frisco. A total of 14 participants joined the event, including several newcomers who had recently moved to the Dallas area, as well as many first-time JCW attendees. Although the event started relatively early in the evening, the restaurant was already bustling with activity, reflecting the lively atmosphere of a Friday afternoon. Participants kicked off the gathering with a toast, each enjoying their favorite beverage. After introducing themselves at their tables, conversations quickly began to flow. Many attendees were pleasantly surprised by the generous Texas-sized appetizers, which provided a perfect backdrop for networking and engaging discussions. Midway through the event, we switched seats to give everyone an opportunity to connect with more participants. Just before the event began, a heavy downpour swept through the area. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who braved the weather and joined us despite the rain. JCW looks forward to hosting more events in the future and hopes you will continue to join us for opportunities to connect, learn, and build meaningful relationships within our community. アメリカ、カナダ、日本の5大学からの参加者と国際交流を楽しみました！ 日本・アメリカ・カナダから参加！ 社会人も学生も一緒に楽しくお話しました！ English will follow 日本時間 4/19、アメリカ時間（CST）4/18に、第10回"Language Exchange Free Talk Event"を開催しました！ 今回は初めて、カナダのトロント大学、オタワ大学、アルゴンキ大学からも参加してくれました！テーマである新学期について話したり、自分の専攻やとっている授業などについて話したり、またテーマ以外の話題でも盛り上がりました。 さらに、自由に会話してSNSの交換もするなど、外国に友達の輪を広げる素晴らしい機会となりました！！ 参加者のみなさん、ありがとうございました！！！ 今後も開催予定です！ぜひご参加いただけると嬉しいです✨ Unlimited and PAW(SA) had our 10th "Language Exchange Free Talk Event" on April 18th CST and 19th JST! 🙌 We had our first time attendees from University of Toronto, University of Ottawa, and Algonquin College! Everyone had fun talking about our topic: New Semester, majors, classes we took and are taking, and more. The Special Tour at the Dallas Museum of Art (Apr 4, 2026) Group Photo at Dallas Museum of Art 米国時間の4月4日、JCW主催で「ダラス美術館・アートとカフェを楽しむ午後」イベントを開催しました。会場となったダラス美術館は、幅広い時代と地域のコレクションを誇る美術館で、落ち着いた空間の中でゆったりとアートに触れることができる場所です。 当日は、同美術館で長年にわたりドーセント（美術館ガイド）としてご活躍されてきた中本慶子さんをお迎えし、特別レクチャー付きのツアーを実施しました。中本さんの丁寧でわかりやすい解説により、作品そのものの美しさだけでなく、制作された時代背景やアーティストの意図、文化的な文脈まで深く理解することができ、参加者の皆さまにとって非常に学びの多いひとときとなりました。普段は見過ごしてしまいがちな細部にも目を向けるきっかけとなり、アートの楽しみ方がより広がったとの声も多く聞かれました。 At Museum Café ツアー終了後は、美術館内のカフェに場所を移し、ネットワーキングタイムを実施しました。アート鑑賞後の余韻が残る中で、参加者同士が感想を共有し合いながら自然と会話が弾み、和やかな雰囲気に包まれました。JCWならではの温かいつながりが感じられる時間となり、それぞれのバックグラウンドや関心を共有しながら、新たなご縁が生まれる貴重な機会となりました。 ご参加いただいた皆さま、そして素晴らしいレクチャーをご提供くださった中本慶子さんに、心より感謝申し上げます。 今後もこのような学びと交流を兼ね備えたイベントを企画してまいりますので、ぜひご期待ください。 On April 4 (U.S. time), JCW hosted an event titled “An Afternoon of Art and Café at the Dallas Museum of Art.” The venue, the Dallas Museum of Art, is known for its extensive collection spanning a wide range of periods and regions, offering a calm and welcoming space where visitors can immerse themselves in art at a relaxed pace. On the day of the event, we were honored to welcome Ms. Kay Nakamoto, who has served for many years as a docent (museum guide) at the museum, to lead a special guided tour with an in-depth lecture. Through her thoughtful and easy-to-understand explanations, participants were able to appreciate not only the beauty of each artwork, but also gain a deeper understanding of the historical background, artistic intent, and cultural context behind them. Many attendees shared that the experience encouraged them to notice details they might otherwise have overlooked, broadening their perspective and enriching the way they engage with art. Following the tour, we gathered at the museum café for a networking session. With the lingering inspiration from the art experience, conversations flowed naturally as participants exchanged impressions and insights in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It was a meaningful opportunity to foster connections unique to JCW, where individuals could share their backgrounds and interests while building new relationships. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who participated, and especially to Ms. Kay Nakamoto for her inspiring and insightful lecture. 2人のメンバーが卒業しました！🎓 ご卒業おめでとうございます✨ English will follow 3月16日に、Unlimited メンバーで親睦会兼卒業お祝い会を行いました！ いくつかのグループに分かれ、自己紹介とアイスプレイクを行いました。また卒業メンバーから、Unlimited 設立までの経緯についてプレゼンをしてもらったり、Team Charter を確認してUnlimited の活動方針を改めて確認しました。 さらに、卒業生にはケーキとギフト、メッセージカードのサプライズをしました。 卒業生の皆様、改めておめでとうございます🎉 メンバーの絆が深まった Unlimitedは、新年度も更なる成長・挑戦し続けます✨ On March 16, we held a social gathering and graduation celebration with our Unlimited members! We split into small groups for introductions and icebreakers, and our graduating members gave a presentation about how Unlimited was founded. We also checked our Team Charter to reaffirm our vision and direction. To celebrate our graduates, we surprised them with cakes, gifts, and message cards from members🍰🎁 Congratulations once again to all our graduates🎉 With stronger bonds, Unlimited will continue to grow and take on new challenges in the coming year✨
