DJCW代表の北村祐子が、地元の大学(UTD)の授業に登壇しました！ (Sep 24, 2021) DJCW President, Yuko Kitamura lectured at University of Texas at Dallas! 9月24日、代表の北村祐子が、地元の大学、University of Texas at DallasでOperational Research の授業に登壇しました。本業の半導体サプライチェーンに関する講義のほか、Women in Supply Chainのテーマで、DJCWの活動を紹介しました。 AWESOME Gartner 2019 Women in Supply Chain Researchによると、今のサプライチェーン業界ではジェンダーバランスが整っているとは言えないのが現実です。アメリカでは、女性は学士号の57％、修士号の59％、そして専門職の52％を占めているにも関わらず、サプライチェーンの労働力の37％しか占めていません。このアンバランスな比率は、キャリアが上がるほど悪化しています。サプライチェーン業界のSenior VP、Executive VP、C-Suiteのうち、女性の割合はわずか14％です。 でも、暗いニュースばかりではありません。もっと女性リーダーを増やそうとしている企業数は、ここ4年間で少しずつ増えてきています。 Sources: AWESOME/Gartner 2019 Women in Supply Chain Research AWESOME-2019GartnerReport_CSCMP (awesomeleaders.org) AWESOME Gartner research, 2021 women in supply chain research AWE060421_2021GartnerReport.pdf (awesomeleaders.org) Women in Supply Chain Initiative Home - Women in Supply Chain Initiative (mit.edu) これからもDJCWは「Network・Inspire・Empower」のミッションと共に、これから社会で活躍する大学生を応援して参ります。 日本で活躍する学生さん、そしてアメリカで頑張る学生さん。皆一人一人が、キラキラ自分らしく輝きながら働ける社会になりますように。 On September 24th, 2021, Yuko Kitamura, the President of DJCW, made a presentation about supply chain operations in Operational Research class (OPRE6371) at the University of Texas at Dallas. She introduced DJCW's activities with the theme of Women in Supply Chain, along with her main day job in the semiconductor industry. According to the AWESOME Gartner 2019 Women in Supply Chain Research, even though women earn 57% of all Bachelors degrees and 59% of all Masters degrees, and hold 52% of all professional jobs in the US, they only represent 37% of the supply chain workforce. This gender imbalance grows worse the higher up the career ladder one rises in the supply chain. Women constitute a mere 14% of senior vice president (SVP), executive vice president (EVP) and C-Suite jobs in supply chain. However, it's not all gloomy news. The number of companies that are trying to increase the number of female leaders has been gradually increasing over the past four years! DJCW will continue to support university students with the mission of "Network, Inspire, Empower". May this society be a place where each and every one of us can shine and work with our authenticity and happiness.

世界の貧困をなくしたい・持続可能な社会を目指すビジネスレザーファクトリー (Oct.1, 2021) Solution to Poverty and Sustainable Society - Business Leather Factory ダラス時間10月1日金曜日の夜に、バングラデシュで牛革製品を生産して、日本全国の１８店舗とオンラインで販売しているビジネスレザーファクトリー（株）、代表取締役社長の原口瑛子さんをゲストスピーカーにお迎えしてのイベントを開催しました！ 2013年にたった２人で始めたバングラデシュの自社工場。2021年には工場の従業員が９００人を超えました。日本で１店舗出店するとバングラデシュで３０～５０人の雇用創出となるとのこと。また貧困により教育が受けられず字が読めない従業員、シングルマザー、そして体の不自由な従業員などあえて非効率な人材を雇用する。革製品の製作の経験のない人たちのために生産工程を細分化、そして字が読めなくても作業工程がわかるようにチーム内で教え合う等至るところに様々な工夫が凝らされています。 原口さん講演後のQ&Aセッションでは参加者からの質問に丁寧にお答えいただき、今一度持続可能な社会の創出ということについて考えさせられる良い機会となりました。 今回のイベントでは、この夏実施したDJCWのインターンプログラムに参加して下さった津田塾大学の遠藤彩香さんにもイベントスタッフとしてお手伝い頂きました。担当して頂いたQ&Aセッションのモデレーターという大役も見事にこなして、登壇者の原口さんからまるでプロの司会者のようというお褒めの言葉を頂きました！ 原口さん、そして参加して下さった皆さま、どうもありがとうございました！

皆さん、こんにちは！Yukoです。私は3つの仕事を掛け持っているパラレルワーカーです。今月から３ヶ月間、私の仕事についてお話していきたいと思います。今月は、オンラインチアダンス教室 YA CHEER講師としての仕事についてです。もともとダラスでチアダンス教室を開講していた私ですが、結婚しメリーランドに移住をして今は元NFLワシントンレッドスキンズチアリーダーとして活動していたAzusa先生と一緒に海外に住む日本人の子どもたちに向けてレッスンを開講しています。 ダラスでレッスンに通ってくれる子どもたちと触れ合う中で、引っ越しのタイミングで日本での大好きなお稽古を辞めなくてはいけなかった、ダラスを離れるので教室を辞めなくてはならない、など環境の変化がきっかけで子どもたちのやりたいことが継続できないという問題を目にしてきました。好きなことに没頭する子どもたちの成長やいきいきした姿は、何にも変え難いほど素晴らしいものです。今は、レッスンをオンライン化させたことでどこにいてもクラスを受けることができ、子どもたちの”好き”を継続できる環境が作れていることを嬉しく思います！クラス様子はyacheerdance.com から見ていただけます。インスタグラムでは、海外子育てに励むママとのコラボトークもしていますのでぜひご覧ください。＠ya.cheer Hello everyone! Currently, I have three jobs. For next three months, I would like to write about my work. This month, it is about my job as an instructor for YA Cheer, online cheerdance classes. When I was in Dallas, I was teaching cheerdance to children. After I got married, I moved to Maryland and started teaching cheerdance to Japanese children living abroad in collaboration with Ms. Azusa, a former NFL Washington Redskins cheerleader. While I was teaching in Dallas, I noticed that many children needed to quit their favorite lessons due to moving between Japan and Dallas. As a result, they were not able to continue what they liked. It is so rewarding to see children focused on their favorite activities. I am very happy that they are now able to continue their lessons thanks to our online environments. ウガンダの女性が誇るファッショナブルブランドを世界へ、カラフル・プレイフル・サステナブル (Aug.27, 2021) Uganda Fabric Design - Colorful, Playful, Sustainable ダラス時間8月27日金曜日の夜に、カラフルなアフリカンプリントを使用したバッグやインテリアアイテム、アパレルを企画・製造・販売するRICCI EVERYDAYの創業者、仲本千津さんをゲストスピーカーにお招きしてイベントを開催しました！ RICCI EVERYDAYを代表する商品、アケロバッグ（ウガンダ語で「幸せを運ぶ」という意味）が生まれた経緯、商品コンセプトの説明から始まり創業のきっかけとなった４人の子供のシングルマザーとの出会い、仲本さんが解決したい課題と実現したい社会について、素材調達・生産・物流・販売までの流れ、ソーシャルインパクトをより大きくするための提案等多岐に渡ってのトピックスについて講演下さりました。Q&Aセッションでも参加者より沢山の質問を頂きました。 イベント最後はBreakout Roomに分かれての交流会となり大盛況の内に終了しました。 仲本さん、そして参加して下さった皆さん、どうもありがとうございました！

津田塾大学＆DJCW (Dallas Japanese Career Women)インターンプログラム終了のご報告 Report on Summer Internship Program with Tsuda University (Tokyo, Japan) and DJCW ７月下旬より１か月間津田塾大学とのサマーインターンプログラムを実施し、先月末に無事に終了しました。大学生１３名を受け入れ３つのチームに分かれてプロジェクトを進めたり、大学生座談会（ダラス時間８月５日夜実施）のファシリを学生二人一組となり担当したりと盛り沢山の内容でした！ チーム１は「広報・国際協力ソーシャルビジネス」、チーム２は「ファンドレージング＆アワード企画立案」、チーム３は「学生ネットワーク・プランニング企画立案」に取り組みとても充実した１か月となりました。インターンプログラムを担当したDJCW運営事務局スタッフにとっても、若いパワーを沢山もらい有意義な経験でした。 また、チーム１はインターン業務の一環としてRICCI EVERYDAYの創業者仲本千津さん（ダラス時間８月２７日夜実施の「世界で働く日本人女性と繋がろうシリーズ第４弾・ウガンダ編」にご登壇）にインタビューし記事を作成しました。当ウエブサイトにインタビュー記事が掲載されていますので、ぜひ目を通してみて下さい！ 最終発表会では各チームが３０分の持ち時間でスライドを使いながら一人一人がプレゼンしました。各チームより若い感性による素晴らしい活動提案を頂きました。 DJCWスタッフにとっても沢山の学びや気づきがありました。これからもDJCWは社会に出ていく学生さんを応援していきますのでどうぞよろしくお願いします。 DJCW offered a Summer internship program from the end of July for a month. We had 13 students from Tsuda University (Tokyo, Japan) and promoted projects with three teams. During the program, the interns also experienced as facilitators for our event, "Online session for college students & Japanese professionals in the US", held on August 5, 2021, CDT. Team 1 was in charge of "Public Relations, International Cooperation and Social Business", Team 2 was in charge of "Fundraising & Award Planning" and Team 3 was in charge of "College students network platform planning". All the projects were successful. Staff from DJCW were also empowered by the interns. For the Team 1, one of their assignment was to interview Ms. Chizu Nakamoto, a founder of RICCI EVERYDAY (a guest speaker for our event "Connect with Japanese career women in the globe, the 4th event, Uganda” held on August 27th, Dallas). The article is posted in our website! On the last day of the program, each team gave a 30-minutes-presentation using PowerPoint slides. Every team provided us great proposals with their fresh eyes. It was also great learning opportunities for all our staff members. We will continue to support college students who will soon play important roles in our society!

Answer 日系物流会社にて航空貨物と海上貨物の輸出輸入の物流業務に携わっております。飛行機、船舶、鉄道、車両など、あらゆる輸送手段を組み合わせて、必要な手続きと書類の手配、そしてコンプライアンスに沿った貨物の輸送を手配しております。 I work for a Japanese logistics company that takes care of exports and imports using air and sea transportation. I combine every possible transportation, such as air, shipping vessels, railways, and trucks. My job involves making arrangements for necessary procedures such as preparing documents and making sure that required compliances are met. Q2. お仕事でやりがいを感じるのはどのような時ですか？ What is the most rewarding part of your work? Answer 貨物の手配にあたり、世界各国のエージェントや航空会社、船会社、トラックの運転手など様々な方とコミュニケーションをとり、輸送を手配する時です。まるで指揮者やプロデューサーのようで楽しいです。無事に手配完了すると達成感が湧きます。また、物流に関しては専門知識が必要なのに加えて、マルチタスク、細部に気を配ること、仕事の早さが必要とされるところにもやりがいを感じます。 I feel rewarded at work when I take care of arrangements for the transportation of cargos and communicate with agents around the world, airlines, shipping vessels, and trucking companies. I enjoy my work because I feel as if I were a conductor and a producer. In addition, I feel my job is highly valued because it requires specialized knowledge, multi-tasking skills, care for others, and speed. Q3. 逆にお仕事で大変だと感じるのはどのような時ですか？ On the other hand, what are the difficult parts of your work? Answer コロナ渦のため、2020年は海上、空輸共に突然の欠航、減便が多々ありました。この状況の中で、納期に間に合うよう手配する時が大変でした。 In 2020, both shipping vessels and air freights were cancelled or reduced because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I struggled to make arrangements for on-time delivery in this situation. Q4. これから仕事面、プライベートどちらでも何かチャレンジしたいことはありますか？ Is there something new that you would like to try, either for your work or private life? Answer 最近は、出社前の時間を利用して趣味を満喫するエクストリーム出社に興味があります。出社の3，4時間前に起床し、読書したりプールで泳いだりと早朝の自由な時間を満喫して、心のバランスを整え、リフレッシュした気持ちで仕事に臨みたいです。 Recently, I am interested in a new work style called “Extreme Commuting”, where I use my time before work to enjoy my hobbies. I get up three or four hours before work and spend that time by reading books and swimming in the pool in the early morning to balance my mind. After that, I get to work feeling refreshed.
