皆さん、こんにちは！Yukoです。夏休みも終わり、そろそろお子さまが登校開始した！という方も多いですよね。私の夏の思い出は、9月に出産を控えているので夫婦揃っての最後の連休を利用してNYへ美味しいもの巡りに行ってきました。焼き鳥にイタリアンと、お目当てのお店の行くことができて大満足しました！仕事では後悔のないように変わらず走り続けていますが、変わっていく身体に 思うように体力がコントロールできず疲れすぎて半泣きになることも（笑） 私は有難いことに、自分の好きなタイミングまでキッズチアのお仕事もセルフブランディングコーチのお仕事もさせていただいていますがインストラクターや、エンターテイナーの方は身体を動かす仕事ということもあり妊娠するとリスク回避のため、すぐに仕事を辞めたり、休まないといけない状況におかれることが多いと聞きました。不本意にキャリアを手放さなければならなかった女性はどれくらいいるのだろう？ライフステージの変化とキャリアの両立に悩む女性は多いのでは、と思いました。私も子育て、仕事とこれからどうなっていくのだろう、、と不安になることもありますがまずは無事に出産を終えられるように残り少しのマタニティーライフを楽しみたいと思います。 Hello Everyone! Finally the summer vacation is over and school has started. Currently, I am pregnant and my due date is September. I traveled to New York with my husband for a long weekend to enjoy great food before we become busy. We enjoyed eating Yakitori and Italian food! I am still working, but I feel like crying when I get very tired as I have less control over my body (lol). Luckily, I am still able to work as an instructor for cheer dance class for kids and a self-branding coach until very end of my pregnancy terms. However, instructors or entertainers face situations that they need to quite or take a leave to avoid any risks associated with pregnancy. I thought to myself, "how many women need to give up their careers against their wills?" I believe they are struggling to balance between changes during their life stage and careers. Sometimes, I am also worried about balancing my work and having children, but I would like to enjoy the rest of my maternity life.

Lean In DJCW Circle勉強会のご報告 ダラス時間の2023年2月16日（木）に「Lean In DJCW Circle - Planning for Work/Life Balance」勉強会を実施しました。今回はダラスだけでなくニューヨーク、デンバー、日本からも参加者さんが！いつもDJCWの活動にご参加頂きありがとうございます。今回のセッションでは、参加者さん一人一人が紙とペンを使って自分のWork Life Balanceをチャート化。今の自分がどんな感じで、理想はどうなりたいのかを実際に描くことで、様々な気づきがありました。パーフェクトを目指さないのも時には大事。誰しもが平等にある1日24時間を賢く使って、自分らしいWork Life Balanceを築いていきたいですね。 DJCW Lean In Circleは少人数制にて勉強会を実施しています。どなたでも歓迎ですので、いつでもお気軽にご参加下さい！ The "Lean In DJCW Circle - Planning for Work/Life Balance" study session was held on Thursday, February 16th, 2023. We welcomed participants from a variety of locations: Dallas, New York, Denver, and Japan! Thank you very much for your attendance. Each participant got to draw a pie-chart to reflect their work life balance status - where we are now and what we ideally want to be. It was a great reflection time for us to see what we need to prioritize, and how to create our time by using the 24 hours/day which is available to anybody. Sometimes it is OK not to aim for perfection! We organize this "Lean In DJCW Circle" study group on a regular basis. Please join us next time!

Let's celebrate International Women's Day! ３月８日は1975年に国連により国際女性デーと制定されました。そして、2015年9月にニューヨークの国連本部にて2030年までに達成すべき17の目標と169のターゲットからなる「持続可能な開発目標」（SDGs：Sustainable Development Goals）が193カ国の合意のもとに採択されました。SDGｓの目標の５番目として挙げられているのが「ジェンダー平等を実現しよう(Gender Equality)」となっています。 今年のテーマはBreak the Bias、日本語に訳すと偏見を打ち破れです。先日開催されたLean in DJCW Circleでは「Bias Busterジェンダーバイアスについて考えてみよう」というテーマでアンコンシャスバイアス（無意識の偏見）について自分達の体験や思いをオープンにディスカッションしました。 偏見、固定観念、差別をなくし、違いが大切にされ、受け入れられる世の中になるにはまだ時間がかかるかもしれません。でも、一人一人がこのことを肝に銘じ行動していけば、きっといつかはより住みやすい世界となることを願わずにはいられません。 By DJCW Committee

Happy New Year! 新年あけましておめでとうございます。本年もどうぞよろしくお願い致します。 2021年は何かと大変な年でしたね。誰が想像したであろうこのコロナ。よくも悪くも、社会や経済の変化を加速させたのではないでしょうか。 昨年のDJCWイベントは全てオンラインとなり、地元ダラスの皆様に対面でお会いするこができなかったのが非常に残念でしたが、 その一方でオンラインの強みを生かして、ダラスを越えた地域の方々と新たなネットワークを構築することができました。 「世界で働く日本人女性と繋がろうシリーズ」では、スペイン・香港・シンガポール・ウガンダ・バングラデシュ、そしてスリランカで活躍する方々を ゲストスピーカーにお迎えし、働く女性への応援メッセージや社会の課題に立ち向かって頑張る姿をシェア致しました。 また、働くママの会では、親子で学べるお小遣い講座や更年期に関する講座を通じて、皆様へ学びの機会を提供したり、 津田塾大学とのインターンプログラムを通じて、将来を担う学生さんを応援するなど、様々な活動を推進することができたのではないかと思います。 このような活動が評価され、2021年にはD CEO Magazine主催の「Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship award - Organization of the year」のファイナリストに選出されるという、大変名誉ある機会を頂くことができました。 これらは全て、DJCWに関わって下さっている皆様の応援があったからに他なりません。改めて御礼を申し上げます。 いつも本当にありがとうございます。 DJCWは今年も皆様と共に、意義ある活動を進めながら、新しい地平に向けて前進していきます。 今後とも応援宜しくお願い申し上げます。 2022年1月　DJCW代表　北村祐子

2023年 DJCWから新年のご挨拶 Happy New Year from DJCW! 新年あけましておめでとうございます。本年もどうぞよろしくお願い致します。 昨年2022年は、引き続きコロナ禍という状況ではありながらも、「ウィズコロナ」の姿勢で少しずつ日常を取り戻せた年でもあります。おかげ様で2022年4月には、久しぶりの対面ハッピーアワーを復活。その後も折を見てさまざまな対面イベントを実施したり、また秋には日本人会主催の秋祭りにも初出展することで、皆さまとの出会いを再開することができました。 また、昨年は、将来社会に出て活躍する未来のワーキングウーマンとなる女子大生達とのつながりを深めた年でもありました。東京の津田塾大学と協力して、7月にはDJCWの学生支部Unlimited powered by DJCWを設立。また10月には「日米女子学生オンラインサミット」を主催して、新たなネットワークと学びの場を提供することができました。 学生達を応援する一方で、Lean In DJCW Circleという勉強会を定期的に実施し、現役社会人の女性達と共に社会の課題について協議する機会も提供致しました。このような様々な活動を推進することで、私達女性ひとりひとりが、キラキラと輝きながら働ける社会を構築するお手伝いができたのではないかと思います。 このような活動が評価され、2022年7月にはガールスカウト日本連盟主催の「Community Action Challenge 100 Award (CAC Award)」のファイナリストに選出されるという、大変名誉ある機会を頂くことができました。これらは全て、DJCWに関わって下さっている皆さまの応援があったからに他なりません。改めて御礼を申し上げます。 今年2023年は、DJCW設立5周年の年となります。私達はこれからも皆さまと共に意義ある活動を進めながら、新しい地平に向けて前進していきます。今後とも応援宜しくお願い申し上げます。 2023年1月　DJCW代表　北村祐子 （Unlimitedの新年のご挨拶は下記画像から！） Happy New Year! The year of 2022 was the time in which we were able to gradually get back to our daily life with the "With Corona" spirit, despite the continuing COVID situation. Thanks to your support, in April 2022, we were able to resume the in-person Happy Hour. It was great to see all of you, especially in the Fall Festival (Aki-Matsuri) that was held by Dallas Japanese Association. Last year was also a year to expand our connections with female college students who will become future working women in society. In cooperation with Tsuda University in Tokyo, we established the DJCW student chapter called “Unlimited powered by DJCW” in July. We also hosted the "US/Japan Women Students Summit" in October, which provided a new networking and learning opportunity to college students in both Japan & the US. While supporting students, we also held regular study sessions called "Lean In DJCW Circle" to provide opportunities to discuss social issues with working women. By promoting these various activities, we believe that DJCW got to contribute in building a society where each and every one of us women can shine. In July 2022, we had the great honor of being selected as a finalist for the Community Action Challenge 100 Award (CAC Award) sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Japan. All of this was possible only because of the support of everyone involved with DJCW. We would like to thank you again for your support. This year 2023 marks the 5th anniversary of the DJCW. We will continue to move forward toward new horizons while promoting meaningful activities together with you. We look forward to your continued support.
