皆さん、こんにちは！Yukoです。2月といえばバレンタインでしたが みなさんどのようなバレンタインデーをお過ごしになられましたか？私は今月からしばらくフロリダに滞在しているのですが、ボルチモアではまだまだレストランもTo go onlyだったのに比べて、ここフロリダではレストランやカフェもオープンしているのできっと州によってお出かけされた方やお家で過ごされた方もいらっしゃるかと思います。
日本では、子どもの友チョコ交換も手作りは控えるなど 例年とは少し違ったバレンタインになったようです。私は高校が女子校だったので毎年 クラスメイト全員分の友チョコを作っていたので少し億劫なイベントだったのですが(笑)、大人になると改めて友人に感謝の気持ちを伝えられるいい機会だなと思うようになりました。こういうイベントの度に、自分の伝えたい気持ちは普段からしっかり伝えないといけないなと思います。
How was your Valentine’s Day? I am staying in Florida where restaurants and coffee shops are open. I live in Baltimore and restaurants are still “to-go only”. The situation varies state by state and I believe there are people who went to eat out or stay at home on Valentine’s Day.
In Japan, exchanging chocolates among school children is a common practice, but this year, they did not do this. I went to a girl’s high school and I prepared homemade chocolates for everyone in my class. Valentine’s Day was a big deal for me. Now when I look back, I think it was a good opportunity to send my appreciation to friends. I believe it is important to let others know your appreciation whenever you can.
